The Washington Post is suing to obtain redacted portions of the Special Counsel’s case against Paul Manafort, details about the meeting between Manafort and Konstantin Kilimnik that the Counsel says goes “very much to the heart of what the Special Counsels’ office is investigating.”
In a response to that motion, filed yesterday, the U.S. Attorney for D.C. argues that although the SC has concluded his investigation the info on the August 2016 meeting between Manafort and Kilimnik, during which it is thought a Ukrainian peace plan and Russian sanctions relief were discussed, Mueller has farmed out that probe to another office which is still investigating and so the redacted portions need to remain under wraps.
Kilimnik was also the go-between for Manafort and Oleg Deripaska when Manafort supplied sensitive Trump Campaign data about voters to the Russian oligarch, who was instrumental in Putin’s efforts to interfere with the 2016 election.
Twitter sleuth “southpaw” is concerned that this “heart of the matter” info will also be redacted by Barr when the Mueller Report is released Thursday:
So details of a meeting “at the heart of the investigation” will not be available to the public and yet Trump and his flock will still bleat “exoneration”!
We must continue to yell “whitewash” to drown them out.
